KENINGAU: Keningau District Contingent defended their championship title for the eighth time in the 48th Interior Division MSS Track and Field Competition which was held at Keningau Sports Complex.
Keningau Contingent grabbed 44 gold medals, 40 silver, and 25 bronze with a total medals won 105, defeating Tenom and Tambunan contingents which are at second and third place.
Tenom Contingent accumulated 20 gold medals, 16 silver, and 16 bronze, while Tambunan gained 8 gold medals, 12 silver, and 20 bronze.
The opening and closing ceremony and the championship prize presentation was officiated by UMNO Youth Exco Information Chief, Jamawi Jaafar who is also Tenom Division UMNO Youth Chief.
About 84 events were held at the competition which begins from 3 to 5 March. Andre Anuar and Dana Aidih, both are from Tenom Contingent were announced as the best athletes for under 18 category.
For under 15 category, Gabriel George (Keningau) and Jessie Rabinus (Tenom) grabbed the best athletes title, while the best athletes title for under 12 category were taken by Rezjohny Mariyam (Tenom) and Hizzilawanty Jamain (Keningau).
Some 111 male and female athletes participated in the three categories were selected to represent Interior Division for the state level competition which will be held in Ranau. – SayangSabah
