KIULU: The inaugural Kiulu Adventure Challenge (KAC) to be held this Sunday (December 13) has received overwhelming response with 630 confirmed local and foreign participants.
Held in conjunction with Malaysia Year of Festival 2015, the KAC involves running, cycling and rafting along some of Kiulu’s most scenic view.
Organising Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the event has attracted 321 runners, 131 cyclists and 178 rafters. However, running and cycling will only be competing in this event, whilst rafting will be only for leisure.
Jointly organised by the Kiulu Tourism Association (KTA), Sri Pelancongan Sabah and local community leaders, the KAC is aimed at promoting Kiulu as a premier adventure and eco- tourism destination.
The run, run+cycle and team categories will be flagged off from Chanteek Borneo, Tamparuli at 6:30am. As for the cycling category, it will be flagged off from Riverbug Basecamp (Kiulu Adventure Centre) at 7:30am. The rafting category will be open from 8:00am to 11:00am. All categories will finish at Riverbug base camp (Kiulu Adventure Centre).
There will be food stalls, exhibition, music and cultural presentation at the finishing venue.
Joniston, who is also the Kiulu Assemblyman, said local and foreign visitors are welcome to witness the event and take the opportunity to experience the outdoor activities that Kiulu offers such as Tagal fish feeding, fishing, exciting activities such as rafting, Zipline, cycling, trailing and camping or merely enjoy a picnic with family and friends next to the scenic river of Kiulu.
He also called on all head of villages, JKKK chairmen as well as villagers in Kiulu to attend this event to assist in welcoming guests to the district.
