KUALA LUMPUR, : – The association of artistes today dismissed as false news that veteran artiste Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin had died.

Seniman Malaysia president Zed Zaidi said he was informed by the family that the 80-year-old artiste was in Temerloh, Pahang.

“He is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and is under the intensive care of his family,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Zed Zaidi said he was disappointed over the dissemination of the false news and hoped that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission would investigate the matter and take action against the blogs that had published the news.

“Do not become unaccredited journalists and pursue commercial ratings by producing news without verifying it … do show sensitivity and respect to the family members,” he said.

Zed Zaidi said the public could obtain authentic information on Malaysian artistes through the Seniman Malaysia Facebook page at www.facebook/PersatuanSenimanMalaysia or Twitter at www.twitter/senimanmalaysia. – BERNAMA
