Jewellery, a thing of beauty


KUALA LUMPUR,:It is known by many that jewellery has the power that can make a woman feel unique and enhance her beauty.

This was what was felt by many visitors to the 25th edition of the Malaysia International Jewellery Festival 2015 here.

A 34-year-old local jewellery enthusiast, Chee Wan Thiong said that she has been fond of jewellery ever since she was a young girl and for her this small item has the power of keeping memories alive.

“I have a lot of jewellery at home and every single one of it has its own story that I can remember and cherish till the end of my life… jewellery have  that special strength to keep all these memories alive,” she told Bernama when met at the festival today.

For British visitor Sarah Gregory, 40, who adores ruby stones matched with diamonds, she said that jewellery have the capability to boost her confidence level while at the same time create a sense of style and elegance for those who appreciate the true meaning of jewellery.

“I am truly delighted to see the number of rare collections here and I am spoilt for choice here as there are a various kind of unique jewellery that can be found at this exhibition,” she said.

Meanwhile, Deputy-General Manager of Malaysia International Jewellery Exhibition Connie Soh said that although 2015 has been a challenging year for many people including jewellery manufacturers, diamond and gemstone suppliers, the jewellery retail market continued to grow.

“Despite the slow growth of economic situation that we are facing now, thanks to the rising middle class consumer market, it has helped the jewellery industry to sustain.

Soh explained that through this festival, retailers gain the opportunity to showcase and connect with other jewellery traders from across the world like Hong Kong, Singapore and Italy.

The four-day exclusive high-end event, which commenced yesterday and will end on Nov 9, features 40 leading jewellery designers including from Italy, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Japan and Sri Lanka presenting their cutting edge and unique jewellery.

Apart from ruby there are also diamonds, jades, gems, pearls, gold that will certainly capture the hearts of visitors who attend this glittering event.- BERNAMA
