Jailed three days for criminal intimidation

KUALA LUMPUR:  A man was sentenced to three days’ jail and fined a total of RM4,500 by the Magistrate’s Court here today for criminal intimidation and causing hurt on his wife and mother-in-law.

Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly handed down the sentence on Sures Raman, 33, who pleaded guilty to all three charges.

Sures, an employee of a solid waste management concessionaire, was fined RM1,000, in default a month’s jail, on the first charge of causing hurt on his wife, Mariambe Halim, 33.

On the second count, for criminal intimidation against Mariambe by threatening to kill her if she did not leave the house, Sures was sentenced to three days’ jail and fined RM3,000, in default three months’ jail.

He was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of arrest, which was Feb 22.

Sures was fined another RM500, in default 20 days’ jail, for causing hurt on his mother-in-law, Patimah Abd Rahman, 65.

All the offences were committed in a house at Block C-5-17 PPR Beringin, Sentul here, at 10.30 pm last Feb 7.

In mitigation, Sures, who was unrepresented, said he was also supporting his parents, a grandmother and a school-going sibling. He paid all the fine.
