KOTA KINABALU: Islam is a beautiful religion and does not teach fanaticism, terrorism, or promote extreme liberal ideologies.
Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hajah Jainab Haji Ahmad Ayid, was speaking during opening the Women Rights Based on Islam Seminar at Sabah Federal Government Administration Auditorium Complex, this morning.
“This programme is important for family institutes because religious values can be instilled within us and applied in our daily life,” she said.
Jainab also calls for parents to spend time with their children and uphold their familial responsibility, as well as to control their emotions when marital conflicts arise.
“We should avoid from doing physical harm to our spouse when we’re angry, such as hitting the wife or husband when there is a conflict,” she advised.
She also said religious teachings should have the highest priority as a guideline to lead families according to Islam.
Three slots for presentations by Dr. Hajah Suhaila Hj Abdul Rahim (Women’ Roles and Rights Based on Islam Perspective), Puan Noor Azah Abd. Rahman (Women and Syariah Court Issues), and Puan Hajah Faridah Datuk Hj. Abu Bakar Titingan (Empowerment for Today’s Women) have been held for the seminar. –SayangSabah
