SIPITANG: District Council Members are told to introduce long term strategic planning to ensure Sipitang development is in line with the current circumstances.

Sipitang Member of Parliament, Datuk Sapawi Ahmad, said the District Council Members are the main mover for progress in the district to reach a relevant level as required by mainstream development.

Sapawi was attending the swearing-in ceremony for Sipitang District Council Members, here today.

“Sipitang is a district with great potential. It is the first district visited by the Brunei and Sarawak citizens when they want to enter the state and that is why we need Sipitang to develop; to spur development. Surely we need a long term strategic planning,” he said.

Sapawi also stressed the importance to prioritize cleanliness, security, environment beauty, and pleasantness in the strategic planning.

“I believe and confident that the council members will contribute their energy and knowledge to improve Sipitang,” he said.

About 18 individuals have been appointed for the office, including Datuk Jamilah Sulaiman, Datuk Semion Abdul Rahim, Abdul Rahman Mohd. Noh, Rosli Tahir, Asli Moksin, Jamian Yunus, and Aminah Ghapar.

Also receiving the position are Lau Kim Ling, Alidin Mohammad, Moktar Matussin, Bongkol Amin, Liaw Ching Kiat, George Libat Dakwat, Angian Alai, Wong Ket Sing, Pengiran Lalung, Mohammad Jaini Puas, and Awang Julai Berahim. – SayangSabah
