KUANTAN: The youth in this country should increase their level of interaction with the community or neighbourhood watch to strengthen the spirit of unity and harmony among the diverse communities in the country.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said based on Malaysia Youth Index 2015, the relationship between the country’s youth and the community indicated a low percentage compared to their ties with their friends and family members.
He said 13.88 million of the country’s population or 45.8 per cent out of the 30.26 million population comprised of youths.
“As such the youth, who will become leaders in the future, should be committed, aware and alert to any efforts by the government to develop the country. They are the frontliners with big responsibilities and roles and, as such,
have the potential in influencing the people’s attitude,” he said.
He told reporters this after officiating at the closing of the three-day Intercultural Youth Leadership Camp which began on Friday here today.-BERNAMA
