TAWAU: An Indonesian man was nabbed by Marine police here after being found with 1018 gram of syabu worth more than one hundred
thousand ringgit near Batu-Batu, Sabindo here yesterday.
Sabah Marine regional commander ACP Mohamad Madun said three personnel on Ops Landai duty spotted the man around 7 am.
“He was acting in a suspicious manner and tried to flee but was nabbed. Initial investigations revealed he was carrying syabu in his sling bag. The drugs were wrapped in several layers of plastic,” he told reporters at the Marine Police office here today.
Mohamad said the drugs were possibly meant for the Indonesian market, with Tawau being used as transit.
“We are investigating the source of the drugs,” he said, adding, both the marine police and Indonesian authorities were regularly exchanging drug
trafficking intelligence involving both sides of the region.
He said it was Sabah marine police’s biggest haul with 30 cases of arrests to date. – BERNAMA
