KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department barred 236 foreign tourists from entering the state last year.
Its director Musa Sulaiman said the individuals were rejected because they did not fulfill the conditions for entry as genuine tourists.
“The department will not hesitate to prevent the entry of visitors who pose a threat to security or harmony in Sabah. In an effort to ensure a high level of security, immigration officers at entry points have been directed to be more stringent in their inspections,” he told a press conference here today.

Meanwhile, Musa said the department detained 18,874 undocumented foreigners last year in integrated operations with the Eastern Sabah Security Command(ESSCom) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).- BERNAMA
