KOTA KINABALU: The employee of an illegal premise was fined RM500 or two weeks jail in default by the Magistrate Court, today, for possessing illegal gambling machines.
Jennyfer Ludovicus, 29, confessed to possessing the machines, including a mobile phone, calculator, and nine small papers at a premise in Penampang Baru, at 2.15pm in 18 November last year.
Jennyfer was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which carries the punishment of six months jail or RM5,000 fine maximum, or both.
According to the case fact, the accused was caught when she was writing 4D numbers on small papers during the Ops Dadu operation carried out by police at the premise.
Jennyfer pleaded for a minimum punishment under the consideration that she was only a worker at the premise.
