KOTA KINABALU: A team of the district police headquarters D7 Branch personnel launched an operation at a house believed to be used as an online gambling centre at Kuala Menggatal, at 5pm yesterday.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said during the raid the police also arrested five men and two women aged between 20 to 47 years old, including one foreigner.
“Initial investigation found that the three arrested men was a costumer, while another four including the two women are the operators for the illegal gambling centre which has been operating for five days at the house,” he said.
Items seized during the operation include 16 computer sets, two modems, one broadband, and RM252 cash.
“The authority is still searching for the mastermind of the illegal gambling activity,” he said, adding that all the arrested will be investigated under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
He also stressed that the police will carry out monitoring operations to tackle illegal gambling activities especially in the suburban areas. – SayangSabah
