Illegal entry foiled by PPM

AKTA-IMIGRESEN

SANDAKAN: Five foreigners believed to be trying to enter the state without a valid permit have been arrested by Zone 4 Marine Police Division (PPM) during its Ops Pensura launched at the waters off Batu 3, on Thursday.

Its Commander, ACP Mohamad Bin Madun, said all suspects consisting of four men and one woman aged between 16 to 74 years old do not possess valid identification documents when inspected.

He said the incident occurred at about 12.10am when PGR 7 patrol boat detected a suspicious speed boat at the area.

The boat refused to stop and instead speeds away when approached by PPM personnel until it went aground at shallow water. The boat captain then escaped by leaving the boat and its passengers.

The case is investigated under Section 6(1)C of the Immigration Act which carries the punishment of a fine up to RM10,000 or jail not exceeding 5 years, or both, and caning up to six times. – SayangSabah
