Kota Kinabalu –District level sports management should identify and solve sports related problems.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said this move was important to ensure the effectiveness and credibility of the ministry as the main body in charge of various sports development.
According to him, the lack of good sport management at the district level would not only raise issues or problems, but also be the ‘talk of the town’ in social media to condemn the Ministry.
“In the context of today’s social media everything moves faster. Therefore, we must take note and watch out for public perception. In this case, the need to be responsive is vital to any related matter “he said here today.
He was speaking at the handing over ceremony of the State Sports Board (SSB) General Manager of Sabah, as well a Christmas celebrations and to fete former board members at the multipurpose hall of the Kota Kinabalu sports complex.
Tawfiq also said his Ministry did not want to receive continuous complaints from the public, especially involving sports facilities that were built and provided for by the government.
Also present during the event were Assistant Minister Datuk Masiung Banah; the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Suzanah Liaw; State Sports board Chairman Minister Datuk Louis Rampas and his deputy, Mahmud Awang Husin.- By Sitti Nor Azizah Talata / SayangSabah
