KOTA KINABALU – This week is the ideal weather for adventurous sports, especially for the Sabah Adventure Challenge Race’s Ultra Trail Run.
Race Director, Aman Avtar S.Sandhu said the current weather with warm temperatures that occurs in Sabah now is suitable for the extreme sport.
“This month’s weather is befitting for the extreme sport as it desiccates the land which makes it easier for the participants to perform the aggro sport.”
He said wet weather is one of the tournament drawbacks.
“I hope the weather will remain the same and there’s no rain during that time since rain causes wet soil and stone in the forest track. If it happens anyway, the participants may suffer injuries due to slippery track,” he added.
He said there will be four Sabah Medical Centre (SMC) doctors as well as 30 volunteers from Sabah Amateur Radio Society (SARS) to provide assistance and medical treatment to the 160 participants if needed.
The ultra-trail run and adventure race will see the competitors covering 100 to 120km over a three days period in this dawn to dusk event in the heart of Sabah.
Competitors can choose to race as a duo in the adventure race category (mountain biking/trail running/tire tubing) or the full-fledged ultra-trail run (solo) through some of the most scenic parts of Sabah.
He said the registration has closed for the April 3 to April 5 sport events, adding that participants from 13 countries including Malaysia will be taking part in the programme.-by Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
