KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology is continuing its efforts in helping the rural communities to adapt with information technology (IT), by keeping the facilities in e-Desa centres are well-maintained.

Its Minister, Datuk Siringan Gubat, said that this year the government aims for 90 percent usage for online services for ICT development, and to speed up costumer management services.

“One of the examples which are now under process is e-status. This system will speed up Bumiputera status application, and reduce the works amountof Bumiputera Status Unit,” he said in his speech for the Minister Mandate Delivery event, here today.

According to him, a mobile application for SabahJob portal has also been developed to ease job seeking and finding information on job opportunities.

His ministry is also in the process to prepare more programmes for ICT and human resource development under the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK-11).

He added that four programmes have been proposed under the Department of Human Resource Development, and two more programmes under Sabah Skills and Technology Centre, funded by the federal government.

Siringan also urged for his ministry and its agency not to get involved with any negative issues.

In order to maintain public service integrity, the government’s efforts need to be complemented with the cooperation from the agency’s leadership, he said.

“There are many temptations around us, but we need to stand firm and avoid these negative problems as required by our religion,” he said.

A civil servant with integrity will reject corruption, misappropriating money, and abuse of power, he added. – SayangSabah
