KOTA BAHARU:  Police have arrested a couple believed to be husband and wife and seized 1,100 methamphetamine pills valued at RM27,500 in a house at Kampung Kijang, Badang here, yesterday.

Kelantan Narcotics CID chief Supt Mit A/L Emong said the husband and wife aged 38 and 39 respectively, were detained after a tip-off and intelligence surveillance at 2.30 pm yesterday.

“Upon inspecting the house, we found six packages containing pills, believed to be drugs at two different location.
Three parcels containing 506 pills was found in a cupboard in the living room while another three packages containing 594 pills were found under the seat of a motorcycle parked in front of the house,” he told reporters at the Kelantan police headquarters here today.

Mit said the drugs are believed to be from a neighbouring country and meant for distribution in the Kota Baharu district.

“Initial investigations revealed that the husband was actively trafficking drugs in the area while his wife had no previous record,” he said.

Both suspects would be remanded for seven days, starting yesterday to assist investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“We are still tracking down the remaining members of the gang that is believed to be active in and around Kota Baharu,” he said. – BERNAMA
