Hope for change with new cabinet

KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party Central Youth Secretary David Ong is hopeful the new cabinet will bring change and positive development to the nation.

The drastic change in the cabinet line-up by Prime Minister Najib Razak is understood to be a decision to form a more united line up and a cohesive voice in Parliment to enable the government to carry out tasks with full strength. However, there is still much doubt hovering in the air whether the reshuffled is able to bring real transformation and positive development to the country, he said in a statement yesterday.

“The federal government must therefore work extra hard to clear doubts regards to topics such as 1MDB, RCI reports, increase extremism etc and ensure it will deliver positive results in the near future in order to win back confidence of the people before the next general election,” said Ong.

The bold action taken by Prime Minister must be follow up by the government to take stern action against extremists or irresponsible individuals who make racists or sensitive remarks which will jeopardize national unity and racial harmony in the country, he said.

Barisan Nasional government holding the mandate to run the country must be seen able to tackle the right issues, make right decision, at the right time and always place interest of nation above self. Malaysia’s economy will be at stake if we lose confidence of foreign investors,  Ong opined.-Sayangsabah
