KOTA KINABALU: Hi-tech equipments are needed as a measure to increase the security level in the eastern region of Sabah.
DUN member, Datuk Jaujan Sambakong, said the use of hi-tech drones to assist in patrol and intelligence operation can control and tackle any cross-border crimes.
“Install monitoring system and CCTV in resorts, water villages, or settlements known as a hotspot for crime.
“Previously I have also recommended the use of helicopters specialized for night operation and the construction of helipad at strategic locations such as in Sandakan and Semporna,” he said during the DUN Assembly for debating the Budget 2016.
Jaujan also said these hi-tech facilities are much needed to assist in control operation for the area.
Enforcement of existing laws, he added, should be strengthened with proper punishment to be given to illegals before they are deported.
Security aspect has been affected by the presence of illegal immigrants (PATI) who are imposing threats and contribute to the rise of social problems, he explained.
The government also required to cover the huge cost to accommodate PATI under the custody of the Immigration Department.
“Their presence gives numerous problems and they also rob the locals of their rights in economy. There are also irresponsible premise owners who rented their buildings to illegals,” he said. -SayangSabah
