KOTA KINABALU: Efforts to help the less privileged should not be limited to certain ethnics or races only.

Sekong Assemblyperson, Datuk Samsudin Yahya, said there are also others from other ethnics in the state that require help to reduce their burden.

“The initiative to help everyone who are unfortunate is a must and should be carried out continuously as to ensure their needs are met,” he said.

He was speaking during the celebration of 40 orphans during the Yadim-MASwings programme and luncheon at Jalan Tinusa 1, Batu 7, Sandakan, recently.

Children from Alam Orphanage Beaufort, Bakti Kota Belud, and As Sakinah Lok Kawi were involved with the event held by YADIM Sabah and MASwings.

He said with the Barisan Nasional government championing the people’s need, assistance can be channelled to help every ethnic group.

“Our (government) struggles are for the wellbeing and prosperity of the country and not for the interest of party,” he stressed.

The continuous attention and contribution, he explained, are necessary for meeting the needs of the needy, regardless of their ethnicity and background.

All ethnics in the state, especially Sandakan, deserves equal treatment and assistance through welfare activities.

Samsudin also hopes that the event will be held again in the future as to close the ties of the local communities. –SayangSabah
