KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged everyone, particularly online media practitioners not to make any speculations regarding the helicopter tragedy in Semenyih.

He said this was a time of sorrow and people should not do anything that could hurt the feelings of family members of the victims of the tragedy.

“Do not engage in speculation, we must show respect to the families of victims,” he said when met by reporters outside the house of Rompin Member of Parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, who was killed in the incident along with five others.

Ahmad Zahid was asked about speculation started by an online media, claiming that there was a possibility the helicopter was sabotaged.

Jamaluddin, who was the chairman of Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), and Datuk Azlin Alias, the principal private secretary of the prime minister, and four other people were flying back from Pekan, Pahang, to Subang, Selangor, when the AS3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB) helicopter went down in a rubber smallholding in Semenyih.

The four others have been identified as pilot Capt Clifford William Fournier; operations assistant Aidana Baizieva; Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Razakan Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang.

All the bodies were recovered by a search and rescue team, comprising personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department and Department of Civil Defence, and brought to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post mortem and identification.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said the area where the helicopter crashed, has been completely secured by the police force to ensure the process of collecting evidence would be done smoothly.- BERNAMA
