KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister’s Press Office today confirmed that Rompin MP Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and Datuk Azlin Alias, an aide of the prime minister, died in a helicopter crash in Semenyih yesterday.
It said in a post on the Twitter account at 7.47 am that the remains of the two men would be taken to their homes for burial.
This is the first official confirmation of their deaths following the accident at 4.55 pm yesterday.
Jamaluddin, who was the chairman of Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), and Azlin, who was the principal private secretary of the prime minister, and four other people were flying back from Pekan, Pahang, to Subang, Selangor, when the AS3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB) helicopter went down in a rubber smallholding in Semenyih.
The four other people have been identified as the pilot, Capt Clifford William Fournier; operations assistant Aidana Baizieva; Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Razakan Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang.
All the bodies were recovered by a search and rescue team, comprising personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department and Department of Civil Defence, and brought to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post mortem and identification. – BERNAMA
