TAWAU: Datuk Hajah Hamisa Samat calls for parents to give attention to their children especially to young teens, following to the ever challenging social environment.

The state Deputy Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology said they should not take lightly of their roles in ensuring the young generation are steered clear from social problems such as gangsterism or drugs abuse.

“Parents must not rely on schools to teach their children since they have a far bigger responsibility.

“In their young age, children want to do almost anything to create bond with their peers,” she said.

Parents are required to prepare physically and mentally so that they will not be taken aback by their children’ transitional period.

The changes that their children are going through should be handled rationally so that both sides will not feel dissatisfied.

Hamisa was speaking during officiating the Parents Motivation Seminar at Kg. Merota, here, yesterday.

Parents must give young generation the opportunity and space for them to express themselves and share with adults about their thoughts in order for both of them to live in harmony, she explained.

The Tanjong Batu Assemblyperson also reminded parents not to be obsessed with their careers and forget about their families until problems happened.

“We ought to make our families as our safe haven and a place we can always be happy,” she said, adding that the positive environment is a great boost when they go to work. -SayangSabah
