KOTA KINABALU: – The Sabah government has assured that it will remain fully committed in ensuring political stability, economic progress and social prosperity in the state.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the state government would also strive to uphold and further strengthen these positive aspects so that the people would continue to experience and enjoy the benefits of living in a country that always working towards improving livelihoods, as well as maintaining harmony and stability.
“In line with this, any actions that could negatively impact unity and stability must be avoided to allow us to achieve our aspirations, improve the socio-economic level and focus on bringing more progress, especially to those
who live in rural areas,” he said.
Musa said this when opening the Angpau Festival Dinner organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations of Sabah (FCAS) in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here tonight.
At the event, Musa also announced an ‘angpau’ of RM100,000 to FCAS to run their programmes or activities in the future.
The chief minister said the state government had never sidelined citizens of a specific faith or ethnicity in implementing development programmes.
In fact, he said the state government had been working hard for everyone and disbursed large amounts of funds for non-Islamic schools and places of worship each year.
“This is a proof of commitment and sincerity that the government practices in ensuring the needs of all citizens are met, in line with the concept of 1Malaysia.
“I wish to take this opportunity to call on all Malaysian Chinese in Sabah to throw your support behind the government and to assist us in further developing this state,” he said, adding that he also believed the political stability, unity, harmony and tolerance showcased in Sabah would contribute towards political stability and unity at the national level. – BERNAMA
