TAIPING: The Magistrate’s Court today allowed the police to remand for seven more days two men believed to be members of the so-called
‘Geng Mamak’ over the investigation into the ramming of several police cars near here.
Magistrate Mohamed Ruhizat Abdullah allowed the extension of remand after the two men were brought to court at 9am.
The men had been held under remand for five days up to today to help police in the investigation into the ramming of several police patrol cars at the Changkat Jering Toll Plaza on Jan 22.
On that day, police shot dead a 38-year-old man believed to be a member of the gang and arrested two others, aged 31 and 35, after the car they were in rammed several police cars at the toll plaza.
The men had ignored a police warning to stop their vehicle, a Volkswagen Passat, and rammed the police cars instead, forcing the police to open fire. – BERNAMA
