KOTA KINABALU: Quick action by Fire and Rescue Services personnel managed to prevent four wooden houses from going up in smoke after a fire destroyed a house at a water village in Kampung Kalansanan, Inanam yesterday morning.
Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Services Department station chief Ordine Gilu said only one house was destroyed in the 5.50am incident while four other houses that were build nearby were safe.
“We managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other adjoining houses. No casualty was however reported while the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said.
Ordine said a distress call was received at 5.59am and five fire engines with 17 firefighters were deployed to the scene within minutes.
“We managed to control the blaze by 6.21am while the whole operation ended around 7am,” he said.- By Albert Goh/Sayangsabah
