KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Datuk Chau Tet On died at around midnight last night. He was 78.
His son-in-law Kevin Padasian told Bernama that Chau died at the Gleaneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu.
Chau leaves behind wife Datin Lee Lian Tsin, 77, daughter Chau Siew Kun and two granddaughters.
Chau was a teacher before entering politics and was a three-term assemblyman for Api-Api, having won the seat in 1986, 1990 and 1994.
Besides holding the DCM post when Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) was in power in the state, Chau was once the state’s Communications and Works Minister.- BERNAMA
