KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate Court today meted out twelve months jail on a foreigner working as laborer for using fake MyPR.
Ameh Ahang, 31, was brought before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakakyun, where he then admitted guilty to possessing a fake MyPR under his name, numbered 850907-65-5233, at Masjid Likas, around 9.45am, in 5 December last year.
Ameh was charged under Section 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulation 1990 which carries the punishment of up to three years jail, RM20,000 fine maximum, or both.
According to the case fact, a police personnel arrested the accused at the scene around 10.00am.
Upon inspection, the accused showed the police personnel his identification document, of which it was later found to be fake when examined at the National Registration Department.
The court also ordered for the case item to be destroyed and for the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department upon the end of his sentence.
