KOTA KINABALU: Forty vehicles consisting of 15 cars and 25 motorcycles have been inspected in a roadblock operation launched at two different locations, yesterday.
The inspections resulted in the issuance of 72 170A and 35 Pol257 summonses to road users for various traffic offences.
The roadblocks were carried out at Jalan Coastal and Jalan Lintas Luyang from 11.30pm Saturday to 4.00am Sunday.
“About four motorcycles and one car have been seized and brought to IPD Traffic Station after being found committing offences under Section 60 of the Road Transportation Act 1987,” said the District Police Chief, Assistant Commmissioner M. Chandra.
Meanwhile, Ops Mabuk at Jalan Coastal at 1.00am to 3.00am Sunday has arrested two drivers to be brought to Traffic Police Station after they were found positive for alcohol.
‘”Further investigation carried out at the police station has confirmed that both suspects were driving under heavy influence of alcohol and committed offences under Section 45A of the Road Transportation Act 1987,” he said.
About 16 personnel and one Traffic Police officer were involved in the operation. – SayangSabah
