KOTA KINABALU: Thirty two students from five different colleges participated in a cooking competition organized by Ascot Academy Culinary Department.
Ascot Academy Operation Manager, Norlizah Dugad, said it is the first cooking competition held with the participation of five different colleges from the state’s capital this year.
“The colleges are Sabah Foundation College, Sabah Cosmopoint College, Advance Management and Technology Centre College (PTPL), Sabah Kiara College, and Ascot Academy,” she said when met by reporters at the competition, here today.
According to Norlizah, the competition is to give opportunity for students studying culinary in their colleges to experience a healthy cooking competition environment.
She also said the competition will help them to get the real picture on the situation that they will face in a prestigious culinary competition where they will have to deal with time constraint and tension from the expectant judges.
Among the judges at the competition were Aby from ADABI Consumer Industries, Irwan from Accor Hotel, Mansur from Chef Mansur Restaurant, and Joseph Aggang from Sabah Oriental Hotel.
The students competed in four different theme at the competition, where they have to prepare seafood, goat, chicken, and beef based cuisine in each categories, she added.
They were given 45 minutes for each categories, where eight students per group compete against other teams to win their category.
The overall winner title in the competition was grabbed by Ascot Academy participants for winning in all contested categories. – SayangSabah
