LABUAN: A deep sea fishing boat registered in Labuan was believed to experienced mechanical malfunction before carried by the strong current and wind, stranding the vessel at Pulau Pelumpong, Brunei.

The CONCUEROO Boat, with registration no. LNF 313, owned by Rei Management Sdn Bhd, was undergoing a sailing test with five crews including one captain at the waters off Lauban in 28 December ago.

Labuan Maritime Enforcement Chief, Maritime Captain Che Adrian Md Isa, said the department operation room received an emergency call at 3.55am regarding on the incident, and has dispatched a patrol boat to carry out a search and rescue operation.

At 5.05am of the same day, Labuan Maritime received an information that the boat has been found stranded at Pulau Pelumpong, Brunei.

“We have contacted the Brunei Marine Police and have been informed that all the victims were successfully rescued at 7.36am and brought to Brunei Marine Police Headquarters for investigation before they are permitted to return to Labuan,” he said.

Close cooperation between Labuan Maritime and Brunei Marine Police has helped in facilitating the SAR coordination.
