Fishermen urged to give information on crimes to authority

TAWAU: Fishermen in the district need to become the eyes and ears of the authority in channeling information regarding on crimes which happen in the country’s waters.

Sebatik State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Abdul Muis Picho, said it will help the authority in taking actions to tackle illegal activities in the country.

According to him, they can give information to Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM), Malaysia Maritime Authority Agenvy (APMM), Marine Police, and Royal Malaysia Customs Department.

“Besides from the smuggling of daily necessities, I am informed that in our waters there are also human trafficking, cigarettes, and worse if it includes dangerous weapons and drugs, which will threaten our security.

“I hope for fishermen to channel information effectively to the authority if they found any illegal activities,” he said in his speech for officiating Tawau Fishermen Association (PNK) Annual Meeting, here today.

Regarding on the meeting, he hopes for PNK Tawau to achieve its purpose in organizing programmes that can benefit its members. – SayangSabah
