PAPAR: Papar Fishermen’s Area Association (PNK) is want the Fishermen Safety Insurance Scheme and goods voucher worth RM100 which have not been received by its members to be settled.
Papar MP, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, said she will voice out the issue to the responsible ministry to be followed up.
“This matter is important for the scheme coordination to be implemented as soon as possible in the state, and we will also help with the goods voucher issue.
“The allowance for fishermen will help to reduce their families’ burden, as well as boost their commitment to work diligently,” she said in her speech for officiating Papar 12th Fishermen’s Area Association Annual Meeting and Fishermen’s Cost of Living Allowance Presentation for Papar constituency at Dewan Masyarakat Papar.
Rosnah who is also the Deputy of Works Minister, said the initiatives provided by Barisan Nasional (BN) government are to help in improving the lives of fishermen.
According to her, in the 2015 Budget the government has allocated Rm350 million for fishermen’s allowance, and in May the government will increase the allowance rate from RM200 to RM300, according to the designated zones.
The aid support will benefit more than 55,000 fishermen across the country besides from other assistance such as incentives for fish landing, security insurance, fuel subsidy, and natural disaster aid relief as well as fishermen home construction assistance, she added. – SayangSabah
