KUALA PENYU: “No regret”… It is the perfect quote for the three crews of Fire and Rescue Department who are now in Kuala Penyu Hospital, receiving treatment for leptospirosis , contracted during rescue operations in Beaufort and Membakut recently.
One of the firefighter, Awangku Rafi Awang Besar, 37, said he does not regret the incident even though he is in pain, because it its his duty to help the flood victims.
“The important thing is, duty must be done with full responsibility even when we know the risks,” he said.
He admitted that he neglected cleanliness factors when eating during rescue operations for the flood victims.
“Sometimes we did not wash our hands properly before eating because finishing our job quickly so we can proceed with rescue operations immediately was more important,” he said to reporters.
“I am relieved because we are getting better,” he said during a visit
