KOTA KINABALU – The Fire and Rescue Services Department are willing to carry out fire drills upon demand.

Sembulan KK Fire and Rescue Station Head, Deputy Fire Superintendent ( TPgB ) Ordine Gilu said they are always prepared to disseminate information on fire awareness.

According to him, they are always ready to share information on fire and prevention of fire as it is their duty to do so.

He said the fire drill at SK Unggun Menggatal is one of their ongoing projects in disseminating information and instilling awareness on fire hazards and safety.

I hope more schools will take us up on the fire drill so that they can find out how well they can handle any incidence of fire and how they can upgrade their facilities against any eventualities.

The school principal, Jenier Subeh said the demonstration had shown them that there are rooms for improvement where classrooms and space are concerned.

He said their school is made of wood with old electricity wiring and as such it can be susceptible to fire.

He later thanked the Fire Department for the drill and for showing them that they needed better infrastructure.-By Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah.
