KOTA KINABALU: The government will carry out upgrade works for fire department facilities throughout the country including for its living quarters in order to replace old and damaged buildings.
Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Mohammad Mentek, said some fire station facilities have been using old infrastructures build in the 70s and are unsafe for stationed personnel.
“If the building infrastructure is unsafe, the government will replace with new building,” he said when met at JBPM Iftar ceremony.
In another issue, he said about 85 percent of the 847 fire and rescue personnel in the state will be on duty during the festive season especially in the first day of Raya celebration.
