BEIJING: Eight passengers were injured during an evacuation of a Hainan Airlines plane that made an emergency landing after a fire alarm went off in the plane’s cargo hold, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The incident took place on Wednesday in eastern China’s Anhui Province when a fire alarm went off on the Guangzhou-bound Hainan Airlines Flight HU7244 cargo hold shortly after it took off from the Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, Xinhua quoted an airport official as saying.
The plane, carrying 160 passengers and crew, immediately returned and landed at the airport at around 10 am, it said.
All passengers and crew were evacuated and the eight injured were sent to a hospital. Xinhua said fire-fighters carried out an investigation but failed to find the source of the fire alarm.
It said work safety authorities were finding out what triggered the fire alarm while the airline company arranged another flight to carry the passengers to Guangzhou. – BERNAMA
