JOHOR BAHARU: – A senior citizen was fined RM3,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after he pleaded guilty for posing as a doctor in a clinic since 2014 until early this year.
Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias also ordered P.Jogindhar Singh, 68, to be jailed for 12 months if he failed to pay the fine.
Jogindhar Singh was charged with posing as ‘Dr Ashok’, which had caused many patients to be deceived into believing that he was a doctor.
He committed the offence at Klinik Theesan, Taman Universiti, Skudai, here, since 2014 to Jan 18, 2016.
The charge, under Section 419 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of seven years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
In mitigation, Jogindhar Singh, who was not represented, asked the court to pass down lighter punishment to him as he still had a wife and two children to look after, besides the fact that he was having a heart problem.
