TAWAU: Some 50 children joined the berkhatan (circumcision) programme at Kg. Ranggu, here, held by Tawau branch of Sabah Zakat Centre (PZS) with the cooperation of Balung Community Development Unit (UPPM).
Political Secretary Chief of the Chief Miniser, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, who was present to officiate the programme, hopes for the event to be continued in the future with more parties working together.
He said such programme will improve familyhood and unity among local communities, as well as upholding Islamic tradition.
“This kind of activity will also help in alleviating fear among children and gives them the opportunity to know each other.
“This is a tradition of the Muslim community and it should be exposed to the new generation as a symbol of unity,” he added.- SayangSabah
