IPOH: A mechanic and his son, who are primary suspects in the murder of four people at a vehicle workshop in Jalan Pahang here, have been
remanded again for 21 days.

The order, effective today until Dec 29, was issued by Magistrate Suhaima Mohd Noor under Section 4(1) (a) of the Crime Prevention Act 1959 (POCA) to facilitate investigations.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Harris Ong Jeffrey Ong urged the court to further remand the suspects, aged 57 and 20, to facilitate investigations.

Previously, the suspects were remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code and were released yesterday. However, they were re-arrested on the same day.

Yesterday, state CID chief Datuk Goh Kok Liang said the main suspects were released on the advice of Perak Prosecution Unit head Yusaini Amer Abdul Karim as the identities of the murdered victims could not be verified.

“The prosecution unit head has advised the police to proceed with investigations to find statements relating to the murder case. The police will
continue the investigations as advised,” he said.

About 8.50am, the suspects, accompanied by several policemen arrived in a police vehicle at the court premises. They left the court at 10.48am and were taken to the Tapah police headquarters lock-up.

On Oct 26, the police detained four suspects about 1.30pm at a house in the vicinity of a vehicle workshop area off Jalan Pahang in Tapah, following a
report of a missing 46-year-old property agent in Kampung Sungai Lah, Chenderiang near here.

Two other suspects – the mechanic’s wife and another son – who were previously remanded were released without conditions on Dec 2 as they were not linked to the murder case.-BERNAMA
