TAWAU:-Ex Pasak Practical Training can help achieve objectives to further boost the preparedness of security forces specifically in
the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom).
Bukit Aman Public Order and Internal Security Department director Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim said the security forces could identify their
shortcomings and weaknesses and find ways to overcome them, via the training.
“ESSCom and other security agencies can test the effectiveness and suitability of their standard operating procedure (SOP).
“The cooperation of all security agencies such as police, military and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) can also be boosted via this
training,” he told reporters after the closing of Ex Pasak 11 Practical Training at the Tawau District Police Headquarters, here, today.
During the training, he said the combination of security forces and other agencies spearheaded by ESSCom could create a diversity of preparedness in defending the national sovereignty especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone.
Muhammad Fuad said Ex Pasak 11 Practical Training which was implemented in the Tawau district, was carried out in two stages, namely, the first stage on Feb 21 to 23, and the second stage, from Feb 26 until today.
“The first stage was a workshop on crisis and disaster management to boost knowledge and update coordination and form understanding between all agencies involved.
“The second stage of the training involved all elements of the security forces in ESSZone aided by other agencies such as the Marine Department,
Immigration Department, Customs Department and Civil Defence Corps.
“The second training involved attack tactics and movements of the teams involved. The scenario of an incident during training involved robberies at a bank and jewellery shop by a group of terrorists,” he said.
He said the training would also be implemented in other districts in ESSZone.
