KUNAK: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) today launched a special integrated operation against illegal immigrants (PATI) in
Its Public Action Division director, Wan Mohd Khalid Wan Kamal said the operation is joined by 10 state government and federal government law
“The operation is focused on Pangkalan (near Kunak water village), the market areas and the town centre. We will hunt down PATI and those smuggling subsidised goods to neighbouring countries,” he said after launching the operation at Kunak police headquarters, here.
Also present were Component Operations Centre chief, Brig-Gen Datuk Tuan
Roslan Tuan Ismail and Kunak Police chief, Supt Abd Rashid Abdullah.
Earlier, Wan Mohd Khalid said similar operations had been launched in four districts – Tawau, Semporna, Lahad Datu and Sandakan.
This followed the Royal Commission of Inquirty (RCI) on PATI in Sabah and the directive of Sabah Chief Minister and Eastern Sabah Security Zone
(ESSZone) chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman .
ESSZone covers the 10 districts of Kudat, Kota Marudu, Pitas, Beluran, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna and Tawau.-BERNAMA
