KOTA KINABALU: The royal Malaysia Police (RMP) together with the Royal Malaysia Army (RMA) and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) will continue to work together to tighten border security along the east coast of Sabah to prevent crossborder criminal activities from recurring.
Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said crossborder criminal activities such as kidnapping and human trafficking have been accruing for the past couple of years and it is time to put a stop to it.
“Threats occurred any time of the day so we have to put a stop to it. The only way to do so is for the public to work together with security forces. Several criminal activities have been halted by security forces thanks to cooperation from the locals, especially from the east coast of Sabah,” he said.
Khalid said this was proof when security forces managed to dismantled eight attempts by criminals who encroach into Sabah water.-Albert Goh/Sayangsabah
