KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government welcomes engineers’ input on better ways of dealing with negative impacts caused by occurrences such as flash floods and earthquakes, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said the state government and the Institution of Engineers’ Malaysia (IEM) Sabah branch could work together on various issues to streamline certain processes and speed up decision making in others.
“The Sabah government emphasises seeking effective solutions to problems. I hail the IEM for proposing solutions to issues like high risk development, water management and traffic impact assessment to government
agencies and ministries,” he said at the 39th annual dinner of the IEM Sabah branch here last night.
In the meantime, Musa said the state government always acknowledged that engineers play a vital role in nation building.
Meanwhile, New IEM Sabah branch chairman Yahya Awang Kahar said in his speech earlier that the organisation will support the government’s efforts to develop the state. – BERNAMA
