KOTA KINABALU: Department of Labour (JTK) Sabah warned that it will not compromise with any employers who disregard labour laws in the state.

Deputy Chief Director of Sabah JTK Enforcement Division, Othman Abdullah, said stern actions will be taken by his division to ensure all employers follow the labour ordinances.

“Actions including to bring them (employers) to court will be enforced in our effort to ensure the labours’ welfare are protected,” he said in his statement.

Recently, one company was found guilty and punished with Rm1,500 fine or three months of prison by the Court Magistrate, judged by Cindy Mc Balitus on 17 February.

The company admitted guilty under Section 130C of Labour Ordinances (Sabah Bab.67), for its failure to follow the order from JTK Sabah Director which was made under Section 7A Sabah Labour Ordinance (Sabah Bab.67)

The violation is punishable with fine up to Rm10,000 and RM100 per-day for consecutive offense. The case was handled by JTK Sabah prosecutor officer, Morian Paidal, assisted by Denson Saidi. – SayangSabah
