KOTA KINABALU;-The Malaysian Civil Defence Department (JPAM) in Sabah has launched ‘Op Bantu X’ to provide emergency assistance to highway users during the Chinese New Year festive period beginning today.
Its director Colonel Mulliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said the operation would involve 485 personnel throughout Sabah.
He said the operation was divided into two phases, with the first being from Feb 16 to 18 and the second from Feb 22 to 24, and it would cover 14 main roads and 10 districts.
“The districts are Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu, Beaufort, Pitas, Keningau, Tongod and Tuaran,” he told reporters after the launch, here, today.
He said during the operation, JPAM officers would patrol from 8am to midninght to assist highway users heading to their destinations.
This initiative, said Mulliadi, was part of the department’s efforts to ensure that emergency assistance could be provided quickly and also to maintain the security and comfort of highway users.
