TAWAU: Education plays a key role in bringing entrepreneurship and good leadership forward, said the state Deputy Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat.
She said it is important to transform the nation’s economy from a middle-income to high-income by the year 2020.
“The government also believes the quality of education is a priority for continuous improvement. In developing education-based entrepreneurship, we need to be aware that we also have to face numerous challenges that come in various degrees in the state,” she said when officiating the Mini RTC Merotai Besar Education and Entrepreneurship Mini Carnival at Merotai Besar Open Hall, Tawau.
Hamisa who is also Tanjong Batu Assemblyperson, said the sector is vital in creating a creative and highly innovative society.
“Education and entrepreneurship is in the same sphere for equipping youths with skills and business traits, where they can effectively contribute in the working world and business,” she explained.
Hamisa also said knowledge in business should begin from school where students are exposed with instilled with entrepreneurship values in order to make them interested to venture the sector in the future. –SayangSabah
