KOTA KINABALU: City Hall aims to save more electricity in the coming Earth Hour 2015 on March 28 at Segama Waterfront here.
“During the 2014 Earth Hour we managed to save 26mw and we hope to supersede that record set last year,” said Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
“I call upon building owners, business premises and residences whether in Kota Kinabalu or outside of the city, to come together to support the Earth Hour programme,” urged Abidin during a press conference at City Hall yesterday.
He called on the people to switch off their lights and other electrical devices from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on that day to show their support in saving our earth.
“Therefore, I urged the city dwellers to register and participate in this campaign and carry out the Earth Hour in their respective places,” Abidin said, adding that the lights will be switch off in several locations such as along Likas bay to the City Mosque (Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens); Segama, Segama Waterfront and Sinsuran; Jalan Tun Razak until the City Business District and Karamunsing flyover; City Hall buildings; and Jalan Mat Salleh to First Beach Tanjung Aru.-Sayangsabah
