KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Ministry of Education with the help of Sabah Ministry of Education has organized ‘Jom Daftar’ Programme for parents to learn more on the importance of early education for their children.
Sabah Deputy Education Minister, Maimunah Suhaibul, said the programme will increase the awareness among parents to send their children as early as 4 years old to pre-school centres registered under the Education Ministry.
“The government has allocated funds for various incentives including school fees and grants for kindergarten centres as an effort to encourage pre-school programmes,” she said when met at the progamme launching ceremony at Palm Square, Centre Point.
However, the grants will only be given to pre-schools that are registered under the ministry.
“Any pre-school centres that have yet to register can send their application to the ministry and to get the information regarding on the registration process for the programme,” she added.
She also advises parents to check the registration status of their preferred kindergarten for their children in the ministry’s official website, www.smpk.moe.gov.my.
“Parents area encouraged to lodge reports to the ministry if there are any unregistered pre-school centre for necessary actions” she added.
Among the agencies involved in the programme were the Community Development Department (Kemas), Penampang District Office, and DBKK Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department. – SayangSabah
