KOTA KINABALU: A driver died while another two passengers were injured after their vehicle crashed and plunged into a  drain near Grace Court, Jalan Coastal, at 3.00am this morning.

District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the accident trapped all the three men inside when the vehicle overturned.

“Initial investigation has found the accident happened due to the driver being drunk and failed to control the vehicle,” he said.

The two injured men suffered from water in their lungs, but they were rescued by the public.

“However, passersby could not save the Proton Saga FL driver as he was pinned at his seat, where he then died at the location,” he said.

The deceased was identified as Mohd Fadli Bin Shoh, 24, from Tawau.  The case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987. –SayangSabah
